Mystery Bird in a Yorba Linda, CA. front yard rose bush.
Pictures by Davy K. of Yorba Linda.
She discovered this bird's nest in her front yard rose bush. She kindly set up a protective covering for the newly born and mother bird to keep them protected from the rain that day. YAY DAVY!Scroll down to see these baby birds progressive growth.
We are still trying to identify these birds. It could be a Bell's Vireo, but don't know for sure. We will post it when a correct identity is determined.
Happy Birding!

CONGRATULATIONS!
Davy is an Empty Nester!
All the babies successfully took flight.
So happy you could share this experience with us. Sometimes birds return to their nesting spot, so maybe they'll come again same time next year .

Bird Cruelty is Animal Cruetly - Don't land in jail
Cutting down trees and bushes with nesting birds is animal cruelty.
Please be mindful. Tree trimming season is September to January. (Fall & Winter)
It could land you in jail.

Southern California - North Orange County Bald Eagles.
Are you wondering why we're seeing bald eagles in our area?
In 1960, it came to light that the pesticide DDT was thinning bald eagles' eggshells and caused the population to crater. In the early 1970's, DDT was banned. Since then, California's eagle population has recovered, and the bald eagle is no longer on the endangered species list.

Maimed Birds in Newport Beach
You can access the newspaper article below.
It is not clear who is shooting the birds, but officials said it’s illegal to possess, sell or shoot a blowgun and darts in the state [of California].It is also against the law to shoot and injure birds.

Spice Finch or Nutmeg Mannikin
I typically do not place millet seed in the feeders. Today I thought I'd give it a try to see what type of finches would come..............
Look at our seed dish full of Spice Finch.

Winter food support
I've helped the Robins and Bluebirds during this cold spell with a few extra home grown meal worms. It's now time to make some bird feeding suet for the feeding baskets.
